Providing Virtual Support & Activities to Young Children & Their Families During Covid-19 School Closures

I keep hearing from teachers who have recently found out that their schools or centers will be closed through the end of this school year (or until at least May/June for year-round programs).

So surreal and sad for those that won’t meet with their children in person again.

When programs initially closed a few weeks ago this was unimaginable.

Yet, here we are.

Are you required to support families remotely or send home activity suggestions/homework now that your program is closed?

Do you think your program’s expectations for this are reasonable?

Maybe you’re like so many who are struggling to balance the responsibilities of work with taking care of your own family….being required to use tech and systems that you’ve never used before...feeling overwhelmed and exhausted. Maybe you have to be at the beck and call of your supervisor and the children’s families for 8 hours a day.

Being in the classroom with 20 four-year-olds - behaviors and all - might suddenly seem almost easy compared to this new and unreasonable juggling act!

...especially, since we are all arguably experiencing trauma and grief in our own ways right now..

This week I had a special conversation about…

This is a Pre-Conference BONUS SESSION for those registered for the Transform Challenging Behavior Online Conference.

It’s a panel discussion style webinar with...

Chamreoun Yann, MA, Master Teacher, Huggins Early Education Center at Fresno State University (and 2018 Transform Challenging Behavior Online Conference Speaker (#TCBOC)!

Dylan Bosseau, MSW, MSEd, MA, PreK Teacher for the Seattle Public Schools - in addition to a background in early ed, Dylan also holds a Masters Degree in social work, as well as a Masters in Infant and Parent Development.

We’ll be hearing from these teachers about what they’re doing to support children and families remotely - what’s working, what’s not, what guides their practice, maybe what keeps them up at night….

…alongside LaWanda Wesley, Ed.D., an early childhood administrator at the Oakland Unified School District. Lawanda will also be speaking about Trauma and Culturally Responsive Self-Care at our upcoming Transform Challenging Behavior Online Conference…

...Dr. Lynyetta Willis, psychologist, family coach, and author - she also spoke to us at the  2019 Transform Challenging Behavior Online Conference and was one of the speakers voted back for the Encore Day!

....and, last but certainly not least, Kristie Pretti-Frontzak, PhD, who’s also speaking about Kindergarten Readiness at this year’s conference. You may remember Kristie from the 2018 TCBOC when I interviewed her along with colleague, Barb Avila about What to Do About Tantrums

It’s quite a line up!

Sadly, this webinar is over.

But you can still register for the 2020 Transform Challenging Behavior Conference to get access to engaging, high quality online professional development for FREE!
