How Do We Make Circle Time Engaging for Preschoolers?

How do we make story time, circle time, and large group compelling, engaging and worth coming to for young children?

Developmentally it can be a tough time of day for some children.

Yet learning to gather as a group, attending to the teacher, and participating is a worthy goal, given that this habit and skill is expected in later schooling.

Yet, forcing children to come to a large group experience because they should or are supposed to is not the most effective path to get them set up for success in kindergarten and beyond (plus it’s only october so you have some months to work on that - feat not!)

My goal: I want children to LOVE coming to large group.

So how do we make that happen?

Well, to start it often requires integrating songs, games, interactive activities and maybe tweaking what you currently do.

Can you take a moment to let me know how you currently keep large group interactive, and what works for you during large group?

…also, what sorts of challenging behaviors do you see during large group?
